Go Unlimited took over the site at Fernbrook Quarry in 2012, a few years after quarrying stopped and left behind a flooded pit, a rock face and a decent amount of surrounding woodland that nobody quite knew what to do with. Our founders, two outdoor instructors who'd previously worked at activity centres in the Brecon Beacons, saw the potential straight away — water for kayaking, rock for climbing and abseiling, trees for high ropes, and trails already cut through the woodland for biking.
What started with a single climbing wall and a handful of kayaks has grown into a full activity centre with six core activities, a small café, and a team of instructors qualified across paddlesport, climbing and mountain biking disciplines.
Every instructor holds a relevant National Governing Body qualification for the activity they're running, and our site operates under an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority licence. Group sizes are kept deliberately small — no more than eight participants per instructor on high ropes and climbing, fewer on the water — so nobody's left standing around waiting for a turn or, worse, unsupervised.
We see everyone from school groups and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to corporate away-days and birthday parties. Sessions can be tailored to age and ability — we run gentler programmes for younger groups and full-height, full-difficulty sessions for experienced groups who want a proper challenge.
